The main electricity producer in Slovakia, Slovenske Elektrarne (SE), which is 66% owned by Italian power giant Enel and 34% owned by the state, has completed its EUR 500 million investment into upgrading two units of the V2 power plant in Jaslovske Bohunice.
The upgrade saw the installed output of each unit increase from 440 MW to 505 MW, and so SE Board of Directors chairman, Palo Ruzzini, pointed out: “Slovenske Elektrarne has fulfilled one of its long-term goals for ensuring a secure and efficient power supply through modernization and increasing the output of the power plant in Jaslovske Bohunice, which will help ensure the energy security of Slovakia”, reports SITA news wire.
The Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant is located near the city of Trnava, and is now generating electricity from two units that were formerly connected to the power grid in 1984 – 1985.
