Loss of a radioactive package between Roissy (France) and Athens (Greece) airports

On 29 November a package containing radioactive material for radiopharmaceutical use has been lost during its transport between Paris-Roissy (France) and Athens (Greece) airports. The missing package, a type A package containing 3.47 GBq of iodine 131, was part of the shipment of 35 packages consigned by CIS bio international (France) to CIS DIAGNOSTIKI S.A. (Greece).
Olympic Airways, the carrier, informed that investigations are in process in order to find the missing package.
The competent authority of France has informed the competent authority of Greece and notified this event to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Due to the loss of radioactive package, the competent authority of France rated this event at level 1 on the INES scale.
