Partial loss of the command and control system in Flamanville NPP

On January 21st, 2002, an error during maintenance operations at Flamanville NPP on electrical inverters caused the partial loss of the command and control system which lead to the loss of electrical power to one train of safety systems and some control system errors on the other safety train and a reactor scram.
Supplementary faults occurred due to the first error or to inappropriate operator behaviour:
„X main coolant pump seal water injection had been stopped for about one hour
„X and an auxiliary feedwater pump was damaged due to a lack of lubrication.

This incident had no consequence for workers or the environment.
