Unit 1 was isolated for scheduled preventive maintenance. On May 25, 1994 during a routine examination of the main gate valve components of primary circuit the corrosion-induced deterioration of gate valve main joint studs were identified at the points of transition from the thread part to the smooth one. The size of the damage varies from 2 to 10 mm. At YA 10S02 - 26 studs are damaged 20S01 - 26 40S01 - 24 40S02 - 26
The damage was caused by primary circuit leaks through the gland gasket of the main joint of gate valves. The event has been rated at "1", degradation of defence in depth.
