ERF description: From 0930 hrs of 09/07/91 onwards Turbine building pit samples of Unit-2 started showing tritium activity. Presence of Argon 41 & Xe was also reported.
On July 13, 1991 samples from main outfall (discharge point to lake) indicated tritium activity above 3 pci/ml which is a non-conformance with TechSpecs. This situation continued up to July 15, 1991. Based on review of Station Technical specification, the limit for tritium discharge into lake has since been revised to 15 pci/ml with effect from July 18, 1991.
BASIS FOR RATING: Event rating of one is selected applying section 4.5 as there was uncontrolled effluent discharge to lake and identification took long time due to procedural defficiencies.
