ERF description:
The storage is situated east of the on-site station switchgear, far away from the reactor buildings. The fire was extinguished by plant fire protection forces before it caused significant damage. The causes of the fire are being investigated. No on-site or off-site releases.
BASIS FOR RATING: The event did not affect reactor safety directly. It was of somesignificance because it revealed deficiency in safety culture whichresulted in failure to maintain proper control over radioactive materials. Level 1 is justfied acc. p. 4.4E of the user's manual. The fire caused noradiological contamination of the adjoining area. No infiltration ofradioactivity into the underground waters, no contamination in the soil andplant samples measured, no incorporation of radioactive substances inpeople involved.
